Coming up against unfamiliar terminology did pull me out of the story, although not catastrophically.

Perhaps towards the end there are relationship aspects between major characters which were not made as evident as they might be, but really, that a minor quibble. One of her earlier books and set in the Georgian Era, the writing does not yet possess her command of the genre as she shows in later years, yet her descriptive mrriage was already fully developed.
